Fittingly taking place in an industrial-styled venue that echoed the up-cycling methodology of its designers, the latest collection from Prototypes was a forward-thinking essay on the role of fashion in modern society.

Inspired by the world of ultras—the hyper-passionate groups of football fans who have been making a name for themselves due to their rally-like marches through cities and links to violent behaviour outside of stadiums—the collection continued the theme of upcycled sportswear, with football kit motifs featuring in heavy supply, pulled over faces, and sliced and diced in experimental fashion. Many of the looks from the collection featured these masks, or items stretched over the faces, a possible reference to the anonymity desired by many of the more aggressive fans seen within football circles.

If any of you have been keeping up to date with the unconventional and experimental looks that Ye and his wife Bianca Censori have been serving up in recent months, you won’t be surprised to hear that the designers of Prototypes, Laura Beham and Callum Pidgeon  have been the masterminds behind many of the creations. Ye and Bianca, who have a creative partnership with Prototypes, sat front row for the show, sporting outfits that very easily could have slipped into the show’s collection unnoticed.

The behind-the-scenes photos are courtesy of a close friend of the GATA family: the immensely talented photographer and director Vitalii Akimov, who as well as providing this special glimpse into the making of the show, is also currently in the process of developing a Prototypes film, that will be released in the not too distant future.
