Meet Mia, a seasoned dominatrix, part of the Tokyo SM Club LaSiora. Gata had the pleasure, no pun intended, to talk to her about the dungeon she works at, her clients and even her favourite movie. Spoiler, the Gremlins have a lot more in common with BDSM than you would think.
GATA: Pleasure to meet you. Tell us about yourself.

MIA: The pleasure is mine. My name is Mia and I belong to the SM club LaSiora in Tokyo. I am 29 years old and i’m originally from Akita, Japan.

GATA: How did you start getting involved in the BDSM scene?

MIA: I was originally more interested in fashion, but my interest gradually shifted to fetish, and the materials associated with it. Think lace, latex, leather, rubber, and so on. Specifically my experience in bondage got me involved in the BDSM scene.

GATA: Do you remember your first session?

MIA: I do remember my first session. I was nervous and excited.

GATA: Tell us more about the member system you work for.
[あなたが働いている会員システムについて詳しく教えてください。何人のメンバーが所属していますか？]
MIA: Dominatrixes at LaSiora are ranked and go through the following stages: baby, regular, tiara, to excellent, depending on their popularity and technical skills. We currently have 19 dominas on our roster.

GATA: Typically professional dominatrixes do not have sexual intercourse with their clients, right?

MIA: Sex is prohibited by law and store regulations. Mental domination is important to me so I enjoy being emotionally distant and maintaining a power balance.

GATA: What happens in a normal session? How long does a session last, what do people usually ask you for etc.
[通常のセッションでは何が起こりますか？セッションはどのくらい続いて、お客さんは何を注文しますか？]
MIA: Sessions vary from person to person. I use whips, canes, and various other tools to restrain and train the customer, but sometimes I simply control them mentally instead. Sessions start at 70 minutes, and then the length and specific activities are decided based on the member’s preferences, such as costumes. We also priorly discuss medical conditions and required play.
セッションは人によって内容は様々です。拘束し、相手を調教するために鞭やケイン、他にも様々な道具を使用しますが、時には道具を使用せず、精神的にコントロールする事もあります。セッションの時間は70分からで、会員様からはコスチュームや必須プレイの希望、NGプレイや病状を聞いた上で内容を決めます。

GATA: Can you tell us more about your customers? Do they vary from locals to foreigners?

MIA: Our members range from Japanese people to foreigners. Recently, many members come from overseas for work or travel and join our club, which is a great opportunity to practice my English.
会員様は日本人から海外の人まで様々です。最近は外国から仕事や旅行で来て入会される方も多く、語学を学ぶ絶好のチャンスです。
GATA: How do you want members to feel after going to your sessions?
[あなたのセッションを受けた後の男性達にどのように感じてもらいたいですか？]
MIA: We want you to feel enjoyment after a session. During a session, you might feel worried or anxious, for example if it’s your first time, but I want to make sure that it is a positive experience. I would be happy if you felt that it isn’t a one-time-only thing, but a place where you can continue to feel enjoyment.
セッションを受けた後は楽しさを感じてほしいと思います。セッションにおいて、初めての場合など心配や不安があるかもしれませんが、私は前向きに取り組めるようにしたいと考えます。その場一度きりで終わる世界ではなく、続く楽しみを感じてもらえれば嬉しいです。
GATA: How much talking is involved in your sessions?
[セッションにはどのくらい会話が含まれますか？]
MIA: We communicate through conversation during the session. I do not speak English well, but I will try to communicate with you by voicing how I feel at the time. We often have conversations before and after the session. It varies from my favorite type of play, how I started to enjoy SM, to regular conversations.
セッション中は会話でコミュニケーションをとります。私は英語が上手に話せませんが、その時の気持ちなどを声にするようにします。セッションの前後にも会話をする事が多いです。好きなプレイやSMを好きになったきっかけから、日常的な会話まで様々です。
GATA: What is something any woman can learn from a dominatrix?

MIA: I am often told by members that I seem to be having a lot of fun. Indeed, I often laugh when I talk about BDSM and during sessions, and it is a laugh of sincere excitement. Some members say that because I seem to be having so much fun, it makes them feel more motivated. Perhaps they appreciate the combination of the thrill of BDSM and having fun.

GATA: Do you watch any erotic movies or movies in general to get inspired? Tell us which ones!
[インスピレーションを得るために、エロティックな映画あるいは一般的な映画を見ますか？どの映画か是非教えてください！]
MIA: My favorite movie is Gremlins. Gremlins are ferocious monsters that attack humans, and Gizmo is one of the most mild-mannered and gentle of them all. However, they aren’t allowed to touch water, can’t be exposed to light, or fed after midnight. Failure to follow these three rules can cause a huge problem. It feels like yin and yang, or the two-sidedness of human nature. When it comes to SM you can’t overfeed your partner but you can’t starve them either. I think making rules leads to a long and enjoyable play. I get inspired by how the movie is cute but has black humor, and also by how depending on which angle you look at it from it gives you a new point of view.
私が好きな映画は「グレムリン」です。
グレムリンとは人間を襲う凶暴なモンスターで、ギズモはその中でもとりわけ穏やかで優しいキャラクターだと思います。しかし水に触れさせてはいけない、光に当ててはいけない、深夜12時以降に餌を与えてはいけない。この3つのルールを守れないと大変なことになります。それはまるで陰と陽であったり、人間の裏と表を表現したものに感じました。SMでは餌を与えすぎてもいけないし、全く与えなくてもだめ。ルールを作ることによって、長く楽しいプレイに繋がると思います。かわいいけれどブラックユーモアがあり、視点を変えることによって見え方が変わる部分から、インスピレーションを感じることが多いです。
